Michael Jackson acquired Bubbles as a young chimpanzee in the 1980s. Bubbles first lived with him at the Jackson family home in Encino and later became part of the world built around Michael’s image—appearing in photographs, attending public events and travelling during the 1987 Japanese leg of the Bad tour.

The partnership turned a private animal companion into a celebrity in his own right. As Bubbles grew stronger and more difficult to manage safely, the domestic arrangement ended. He eventually moved to the Center for Great Apes in Florida, where he has lived since among other chimpanzees.

The episode reconstructs that progression through the witness who was always photographed but never interviewed: acquisition, friendship, global publicity and separation. Bubbles narrates the strange machinery that made both of them famous—one a pop star, the other an unwilling supporting character.
