About this episode

Climate Hero, Gate B12

Leonardo DiCaprio was handpicked by the global climate establishment to become one of its most recognisable public figures. From the United Nations to high-profile environmental events, he urged governments, companies and the public to confront climate change while lending celebrity reach to a cause that wanted the world’s attention.

At the same time, reports of frequent private-jet journeys, luxury-yacht travel and rapid intercontinental trips repeatedly contradicted the restraint he preached. The individual flights were not the whole story. They formed a pattern in which the messenger’s access to extraordinary transport appeared exempt from the behavioural changes being demanded of everyone else.

The episode follows that contradiction rather than a single incident: a celebrity elevated as the movement’s front figure, an audience largely willing to overlook the hypocrisy, and companies continuing business much as before. The satire sits inside a serious question—does a powerful message still work when its most visible advocate seems untouched by it?

It is one chapter in Absurd History of Celebrity Culture: true celebrity stories reconstructed as compact cinematic documentaries, where the historical detail is real and the presentation knows exactly how ridiculous reality can be.
